Review: A Child Called It is a nonfiction book by Dave Pelzer about his childhood experiences with his very abusive mother. He starts off by telling the story of how he became free then goes back to the days when he was abused. He was abused physically and mentally. At times the book gets very graphic and disturbing so I advise that you read this with caution. Parts that I liked about this book specifically is the epilogue. The author tells how his life is now and how these experiences with his mother effected his respect for his children now. I liked seeing how someone who is had it extremely rough can turn it around into a learning experience. I dislike how graphic it really was. Going into this book I knew it would be extremely graphic and disturbing so of course I hated reading about all those terrible experiences he went through. I recommend this book to someone who is interested in nonfiction and also to someone who is interested in crime and legal issues. In all I would rate this book a four out of five stars. For how terrible the circumstance was it was written very well and had a great message at the end.
