Review:

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid is an action-packed story that takes place in a Galactic Empire filled with corruption and deceit. The story follows Nemesis, a sub-human creation, made with the sole purpose to protect the person she was created for, and she goes so far as to impersonate the one she is to protect. I really enjoyed the interactions with others and the subsequent character development of Nemesis. What Nemesis has in strength, she lacks in social skills, which is evident from the start. Add that to her little to no empathy and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Fortunately for Nemesis, as the story progresses, she learns quite a bit about others. I was not sold on the romantic relationship the author has for nemesis. Nemesis easily falls head-over-heels for a man and, although it shows she has matured as a character, I don’t think it should have been so easy for her to fall in love and leave the one she was created to protect behind.

Overall, this book is perfect for anyone who likes a good outer-space science fiction book with corruption, deceit and some pretty sketchy characters. I would give this book a solid 4 stars.
